Introduction

UNI is the governance token of Uniswap, the largest DEX by cumulative volume (>$2.7 trillion). Holders steer protocol upgrades, fee models and treasury. Uniswap’s AMM launched in 2018, introduced V3 concentrated-liquidity in 2021, and V4 hooks + singleton architecture (whitepaper 2024) to enable custom pools and 30% gas savings. UNI allocates 0.05% trading volume to a community treasury once fee switch is enabled.
