Golem (GLM) is an ERC-20 utility token that powers the Golem Network, a decentralized marketplace for computing power. The Golem Network allows users to rent idle computing resources or access additional computational power as needed, creating a peer-to-peer supercomputer accessible to everyone. GLM facilitates transactions between Providers (those offering computing resources) and Requestors (those utilizing resources). The platform breaks down complex computational tasks into smaller subtasks distributed across multiple providers for parallel processing, enhancing efficiency for applications like CGI rendering, scientific calculations, machine learning, and cryptocurrency mining. GLM has a total supply of 1 billion tokens, all of which are in circulation. The project was founded in 2016 by Golem Factory and successfully raised funds through an ICO, with the original GNT token migrating to GLM to enable better integration with layer 2 solutions.
