About BERA
Berachain (BERA) is the native gas and staking token of Berachain, the first EVM-identical Layer 1 blockchain operating on an innovative Proof-of-Liquidity (PoL) consensus mechanism. Unlike traditional Proof-of-Stake systems, Berachain's PoL merges network security with liquidity provision, creating a cooperative economy where validators, users, and protocols contribute to both aspects simultaneously. Built on BeaconKit, a modular consensus client platform, Berachain achieves full Ethereum compatibility while supporting over 250 dApps in its ecosystem. BERA serves dual purposes as the gas token for transaction fees (which are burned) and as the staking token for validators who must stake 250,000 to 10 million BERA tokens to participate in consensus.
